Second-hand clothes wholesaler Worth the Weight is holding a sale at Winchester’s Guildhall.

A ‘vintage kilo sale’ is on Sunday, June 16 to promote sustainable fashion as well as giving locals an opportunity to pick up clothes from well-known brands at bargain prices.

Entry is £3 for early bird and £2 after.

The pre-owned clothes industry has grown by 18 per cent over the last year and is expected to increase to $350 billion by 2028, according to the company.

That is just as well, because the fashion industry consumes the second largest amount of water of all industries worldwide, largely through cultivation of cotton.

Even Vogue magazine is predicting a shift towards reused fabrics as consumers become more savvy about the environment – they say this summer’s trend will be ‘craft’.

Chris Davies, Worth The Weight organiser, said: “Our events remain increasingly popular, obviously we’re seeing summer stock fly off the rails but people know a bargain when they see it – our events have a full range of departments from kappa jackets to short shorts”
