Ten St John Ambulance volunteers were celebrated for their exceptional service at a medal award ceremony in Winchester.

Hosted by the Hampshire County Priory Group (CPG) of the Order of St John, the event was a salute to the volunteers' invaluable contributions to the Queen’s Coronation Day events.

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson was on hand to present the Coronation Medals to exceptional individuals, including cadet Duncan Matulewicz-Boyle.

The Lord-Lieutenant commended the medal recipients for their selfless service and commitment to the community in his opening remarks.

A part of the honoured recipients, Mr Matulewicz-Boyle is a first-aider and future Bristol University medicine student.

His achievement was personally recognised by Harry Dymond, a Hampshire KStJ who was himself a cadet during the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

Mr Matulewicz-Boyle said: "The Coronation event gave me a great sense of pride, it was a surreal but incredible experience."

The event, at the Winchester Masonic Centre, brought together 50 guests, giving a chance for friends and family to share in the recognition of their loved ones' achievements.

Attendees, including award recipients, their families, and members of the Hampshire County Priory Group and District Management Team, enjoyed traditional tea and cake in true British style.

In concluding the ceremony, a heartfelt thank you was extended to all attendees for their support, underscoring the essential role these volunteers play at both local and national events.
