A PAIR of Winchester mums who are seeing success as part-time DJ’s are returning to the city's music scene.

Shanaz Jones and Tabitha Burgess started their DJ double act Epoch after becoming friends when their daughters met on a playground in 2018.

Since then, the pair have played dozens of shows across the Winchester area, including at The Railway Inn in St Paul’s Hill, and at festivals Boomtown and Latitude, as well as charity events.

During the Covid pandemic, the pair performed online sets and appeared on Lauren Laverne’s programme Desert Island Disco.

The party intents to pay homage and celebrate the second Summer of Love which took hold of the UK dance subculture back in 1988 and 1989.

The pair said: “Rave is one of the last cultural movements before everything started to become a post-modern rework of something else. Epoch parties try to recapture the phenomenal arrival and evolving ages of House/Rave music.

“That’s what makes them so special.

“The feedback we receive from Epoch fans is incredible. Winchester needs this kind of outlet for music fans.

“We are from a generation who truly were care-free, before the days of mobile phones documenting everything, and we want to share that feeling and sentiment through our parties.”

Tickets for the event are currently available at the Railway Inn website.
