MEMBERS of the Wessex Dignity in Dying group took to the streets of Winchester to raise awareness.
The group is campaigning for changes to the UK’s assisted dying laws.
Members from the Wessex branch had a market stall on Winchester High Street on Sunday, June 2, where they gathered more than 150 signatures from passers-by.
The stall was visited by both the Green Party parliamentary candidate Lorraine Estelle and Lib Dem hopeful Danny Chambers, who said that they would support a full and free debate on the issue in the next parliament.

Marie-Louise Papworth, leader of Dignity in Dying Wessex, said: “We were able to talk to many people and respond to the important questions of safeguards to prevent coercion, and also to explain why the law campaigned for by Dignity in Dying to provide choice for adults of sound mind with terminal illness, is different from the laws in Canada.
“The stall attracted a lot of attention and collected over 150 signatures in person on the day.”
