ANY crows in Owslebury would have been scared stiff over recent days.

The village Scarecrow Trail has returned for its fifth year.

Visitors to the village were able to see more than 40 scarecrows doted throughout the village during half-term.

This year, the theme was “Heroes and Villains” with the creations including a range of characters from the worlds of TV, film and even politics, representing either ‘friend or foe’ depending on opinion.

Notable scarecrows included Superman, The Doctor and a Dalek from Doctor Who, Dorothy and The Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, Bowser and Mario, and former prime minister Boris Johnson.

The visitors who guessed the identities of the most scarecrows had a chance to win a meal at The Ship Inn, with the trail being sponsored by Charters Estate Agents.
