A FOUR-storey residence in Winchester city centre is to be auctioned off next week.

The end-terrace freehold property at 27 Eastgate Street is among 174 lots across southern England in the 250th auction of Clive Emson Auctioneers, which started out in 1989.

The property is being auctioned with a guide price of £470,000 to £490,000

Mike Marchant, a senior auction appraiser in Hampshire for the regional land and property auction firm, working out of Whiteley, said: “Previously in use as temporary housing, the accommodation is currently arranged as several bedsit/letting rooms.

“However, prospective buyers may wish to reconfigure the property, which comes with vacant possession, into something more in keeping with a family home.”

A town centre office building in Alton is also being auctioned, with a guide price of £350,000-plus.

The freehold property is at 7 Cross & Pillory Lane.

Joe Rocks, auction appraiser, said: “This attractive building is situated in the heart of the town, having previously served as office accommodation for the local authority including partial use as a tourist information centre.

“The building has the further major advantage for any town centre building of car parking. It is considered that the building could serve a number of future uses including, of course, continued utilisation as offices.

“Alternatively, residential conversion is also considered a possibility subject to all required consents being obtainable.”

The latest auction begins on Monday, June 10, and ends on Wednesday, June 12.
