IT's a tribute that could be easily missed - a tiny metal plaque on a riverside gate on The Weirs in Winchester.

It says 'In memory of John the Gardener, (1955-2024) who tended this garden for 20 years'.

The recently-installed plaque and gate are next to a footbridge that links the garden to The Weirs, and that structure is adorned with a beautiful wisteria that has been in magnificent flower for several weeks.

What better tribute to John the Gardener?
