NEW photos show a lorry stuck on an Owslebury road after it got snagged in low-hanging branches.

The photos were sent to the Chronicle by former Owslebury parish councillor Gerry Tull, who saw the vehicle get stuck on the road at Morestead on Thursday, May 30.

Mr Tull has previously voiced concerns about the lack of maintenance of roadside trees around the village.

He said: "Allegedly, the driver of the lorry pulled over to avoid speeding cars - the main branch was maybe 18 inches in diameter.

"Luckily a branch didn't fall on a car or kill the lorry driver or worse. Car drivers were oblivious to the risk, speeding by.

"There are more low branches in the same lane. Is the parish council waiting for something serious to happen?"

Mr Tull said that it took an hour for a digger and a worker with a chainsaw to get the lorry free.
