During the incident, one staff member, a woman in her 50s, was pushed, and a second, a man in his 20s, was hit by the shop door as Woolley ran away. No serious injuries were reported.

Woolley was arrested on Tuesday, May 28. Officers found a locking blade in his bag and later a bag of cannabis.

He was jailed for two months. The knife and the drugs were ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.

PC Tristan Pugh said: “This was a nasty incident and fortunately the staff members at the pharmacy were not injured.

“I hope this conviction shows that we take shoplifting seriously and this behaviour will not be tolerated in our district. We will keep relentlessly pursuing those who choose to commit this crime in our community.”
