Famous broadcaster Alastair Bruce OBE VR DL will be giving a lecture at a Grand Garden reception in Winchester next month.

The Friends of the Hospital of St Cross is inviting people to be a part of the grand event on June 14, from 6 to 9pm.

The setting for the event is the picturesque Master's Garden and St Cross Church.

Tickets are priced at £25 per person, inclusive of a glass of bubbly and canapes in the Master's garden.

Mr Bruce, Sky News Religious and National Events Commentator, will present the talk "Passing the Kingdom’s Baton: a broadcaster’s reflection on ceremony, semiotics and the change of reign."

Mr Bruce has played the role of historical adviser to various feature films and ITV’s Downton Abbey.

His notable accomplishments include commentating on significant state events like the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and the Royal Wedding in 2011.

He is also a patron of the charity Friends of St Cross which works towards repairing and renovating the Hospital, as well as organising events and outings.
