THE opening of a new pavilion at the King George V Playing Field has been delayed.
The pavilion in Highcliffe was to be officially opened on Thursday, May 30.
However, Winchester City Council has postponed the unveiling until after the General Election, which will be held on Thursday July 4.
The new opening date is yet to be announced.
The opening had been arranged before the prime minister announced the election. The council is Lib Dem controlled and the event would have attracted publicity and opened the council to criticism of political bias.
