A post on the Swanmore Village Hall Facebook page said: “Just a quick post to clarify a few things about last night from the perspective of the Village Hall.
“There was a booking for the hall for yesterday evening which was due to end at midnight (not unusual, we have lots of those). The booking was on behalf of a football team which had been attending a large event in Southampton.
“The original bookers closed up and left the hall at around 1am. However, a significant number of additional people from the same football event turned up and carried on the party in the car park, as many villagers will have heard.

“The police have been in Swanmore all morning and are dealing with the individual groups as they disperse and head back to various parts of the country.
“As yet there appears to be no damage to the Village Hall, however there are probably still some bottles no doubt lying around in the grass and some broken glass so please do be careful when walking around the area.
“Big thank you to the cleaning team who hot-footed it to the Village Hall this morning to make it ready for today's children's party.”
