Southampton FC heroes are set to take part in a charity football match to raise funds for charity.

Matt Le Tissier, James Beattie, and Glenn Cockerill  will be among those taking to the pitch in aid of Simon Says.

The charity helps children cope with bereavement and is taking on a team called Saints Legends, which comprises former Southampton FC players.

The family-friendly event, which takes place at 1pm on Saturday, May 25, is being sponsored by Staplewood Construction.

Simon Says volunteer fundraiser Stefanie Hunt said: "As well as the main event, we will have stalls selling items such as homemade jewellery, sweets, and handbags.

"We'll also have a bouncy castle and a chance to win a ride in a Supercar. The day will run from 10am, with kick-off taking place at 1pm."

Simon Says is named after Simon Stanley, a 37-year-old Southampton teacher who died of cancer. His widow Sally discovered there was no bereavement support available locally for their two children.

The event will take place at AFC Totton, on Salisbury Road next to the Calmore roundabout and the entrance to Calmore Industrial Estate.
