Theatre Royal Winchester promises a fun British summer for all families, offering everything from musicals and comedy to magic and interactive storytelling.
Starting the family entertainment is the notable musical Grease from June 20-21. Young performers from Embley School near Romsey will stage this popular favourite featuring classic hit songs.
On July 20, the theatre hosts the Total Pop Party: The Concert Experience, aimed at children keen to sing and dance to popular hits from artists including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry.
This show offers an introductory concert experience for younger audiences.
The Horrible Histories gang will return on July 21, with Rotten Royals featuring outlandish portrayals of infamous British rulers from history.
Theatre Royal's adaptation of Wind in the Willows, Mr Toad, is set to run from July 26-28 which tells the story of Toad Hall, under threat from Miss Weasel, while Mr Toad’s pursuit for speed continues unabated.
The theatre will also showcase magical talents from Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Cillian O’Connor on July 30 and London’s long-standing theatre magic show, West End Magic on August 4.
A musical adaptation of Judith Kerr’s classic story, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, is set to run from August 5-7.
The much-loved story revolves around Sophie and her mother, who are interrupted at tea by a tea-guzzling tiger.
Dinosaur World Live offers pre-historic enthusiasts a chance to meet creatures from the dinosaur era, including a mighty T-Rex, Triceratops, and Giraffatitan from August 10-12.
In addition, local young talents will be showcased during dance-offs hosted by Integr8 Dance on June 22–23, and July 14.
Winnall Rock School will be celebrating its 20th anniversary on July 17 while Rare Productions’ rendition of Sleeping Beauty is on August 1-3.
The theatre also offers an opportunity for the youth to create and perform an original play through Playmakers’ Play in a Day on July 29 and Play in Two Days on August 8-9.
