A Winchester coffee shop has announced its new opening date, less than a week after delaying it.

As previously reported, Kavi Coffee had been due to open on Jewry Street on Monday, May 20, replacing the former Sofa Workshop located in the premises.

According to the government website Companies House, the business is owned by Dhan Bahadur Tamang and Dhan Bahadur Sakri. Mr Tamang is also the founder of DT Coffee Roastery, in Moorside Road, which is a specialist retailer supplying coffee to businesses in the UK and internationally.

The store had been undergoing refurbishment and has boards up across the windows and doorway to prevent anyone from being able to see inside. The windows have been covered with the Kavi Coffee branding, with the tagline “A revolution is brewing”.

“Every detail matters in our quest to craft the perfect cup of coffee. From the beans we select to the unique atmosphere we want to create for you. Our beautiful historic building, with its rich and creative history, in the last 24 hours has presented us with some unexpected challenges.

“Just as the perfect brew takes time, we’re taking this extra time to honour the building's legacy and make sure everything is just right.”

The opening has now been rescheduled to Friday, May 24 at 9am, adding it would love to see people attend and that it "can't wait to share this new venture with Winchester's community."
