PEOPLE in Winchester enjoyed activities and showed their support for those with dementia as part of Dementia Action Week.
The activities took place to support people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers.
Twenty events were coordinated by the Dementia Friendly Winchester team – a group of committed individuals, local organisations, charities, churches and businesses, all passionate about raising awareness of dementia.
They included coffee mornings, free taster sessions of walking netball and seated yoga, a market stall offering information and the presence of the Dementia Bus where members of the public could experience a close approximation of what it is like to live with the condition.

Tony Winterton, community manager for Home Instead, told the Chronicle: “It’s been absolutely amazing this week. We’ve put on a number of activities. The feedback we get from people, and why it is so important to raise awareness, is ‘thanks’. Because people find it so difficult to find the information they need or where they need to go to get help.
“So, it’s not only designed to raise awareness, it’s also to help people who care for people living with dementia.”
