When the original plans for a 'smart' motorway were launched, farmland alongside Badger Farm Road was turned into construction compound for Balfour Beatty (Chronicle, May 16).
At the commencement of the compound, I mentioned my skepticism to Cllr Jan Warwick who assured me it would be returned to its original farmland.
My fears were unfounded. and am delighted to see natural farmland once again.
Located close to Winchester, farmland and countryside are important now and future generations.
