Former choristers and cathedral colleagues all joined the present Girls’ Choir to take part in the service.
David Hill, the cathedral’s Director of Music when the choir was formed, was also among the large congregation at the service which was followed by a reception in the north transept.
During the reception, the Dean of Winchester, the Very Rev Catherine Ogle and Bruce Parker, the chair of the Cathedral Friends which funds the girl choristers, cut a special anniversary cake.
