Heavy rainfall turned a park and ride car park into a lake leaving water several inches up the tyres of parked vehicles.

South Winchester Park and Ride, near Compton was videoed by Genna Hunt today when a sudden downpour flooded the area.

Despite the heavy rain and water sitting on the surface, the water from the flash flood soon drained away, but not before Genna snapped a couple of photos and a video.

The heavy rain was persistent in Winchester for a number of hours, but nearby areas such as Romsey and Basingstoke experienced no rain at all.

2024 has been one of the wettest years on record in recent times, with 497mm of rain recorded at the Environment Agency's climate station in Otterbourne by Monday, May 6.
