The former mayor of Winchester, Angela Clear, has officially opened the new high tech McDonald’s at Whiteley Shopping Centre, which has created around 100 jobs.
Cllr Clear, who was joined by Whiteley council chariman Mike Evans, cut a red ribbon and a celebratory cake to declare the new 65-seater restaurant officially open.
The Whiteley McDonald's opened to customers on May 1 and is open 7am to 12 midnight seven days a week.

It features table service, self-ordering kiosks, and an outside seating area. A new layout has been combined with the latest technology to create a more seamless and enjoyable experience for customers.
McDonald’s Franchisee, Jose Calaza, who now owns and operates eleven McDonald’s restaurants in Hampshire, said: “It was a privilege to have the mayor of Winchester open our restaurant. The team has gone above and beyond to deliver the best possible customer experience and we can’t wait to continue welcoming local customers to the restaurant.”
This was one of Cllr Clear's last civic engagements as Mayor of Winchester.
