A HAMPSHIRE golf club is hosting an event as part of Women’s Golf Day.

Bramshaw Golf Club is hosting a nine-hole competition with prizes before heading to the neighbouring Bell Inn for gin tasting.

Bramshaw’s lady vice captain Sue Acklam, who will be hosting the day with current lady captain Joy Fraser, said: “Despite coming from a sporting family and playing most sports over the years, I found golf pretty late in life, so I am really pleased to be able to be part of an event that brings people together through golf. I can’t wait.

“I found and fell in love with the wonderful game of golf in my early 40’s, my only regret is that I didn’t find it sooner.  Such a fantastic sport that enables you to meet so many different people, make lifelong friends and visit wonderful courses in the UK and abroad. What’s not to love about the game? And that’s why I’m so excited we’re hosting a Women’s Golf Day event here at Bramshaw."

Women’s Golf Day was launched in 2016 and is unique in the sports world. Starting in New Zealand and ending in Hawaii, this weeklong celebration of women’s golf takes place from May 28, through to Tuesday, June 4.

Molly Pavey, general manager at Bramshaw Golf Club, said: “We are really excited to be hosting a Women’s Golf Day event here at Bramshaw.

“This event is a real celebration of golf. It’s for our members, for local golfers and non-golfers.  There is a campaign to #BringAFriend this year and we really hope people do. It’s going to be a lot of fun!”

Elisa Gaudet, founder of Women’s Golf Day, said: “More women and girls are taking up the sport, which is fantastic, but many women simply don’t know how to get started or where to play, which is where these events really help. They connect women to courses like Bramshaw Golf Club and the community of women who already play there. It’s important to women to find a location where they know they will be welcome and, if they enjoy themselves, they are likely to continue to learn and play.”

The Gin and Golf Day will start at 12pm on June 1 and costs £30. To book a place, contact Molly on 023 8081 3433 or visit golfgenius.com/pages/10546265122806971819.
