MORE than 200 new and expectant parents attended a Nearly New Sale in Winchester at the end of April.

Held at the Badger Farm Community Centre on Sunday, April 21, the sale of baby and toddler clothes, toys and equipment was organised by NCT Winchester & District and sponsored by Dybles Estate Agents, Baby Squids and Liz Knowles Women’s Health & Fitness Physio.

More than 5,000 items were up for grabs, with nearly £6,000 worth of items sold.

NCT Nearly New Sales are not like other secondhand children’s sales: the items are all of ‘nearly new’ quality and are checked by volunteers on the day.

The items are also arranged into accessible categories, making them easy for customers to buy.

A small committee and a large team of 40 on-the-day volunteers worked together to set up the event.

Sarah Crisp, sale coordinator at NCT Winchester & District, said: “We’re delighted that our Nearly New Sale was such a huge success. Local families snapped up some real bargains while supporting NCT’s vital charity work in Winchester and surrounding areas. Our volunteers made it a great event and it was also a fantastic opportunity to meet other parents from the area.”

The income generated by the NCT Nearly New Sale will go towards helping the charity to support parents, fund helplines and offer local services such as baby first aid courses, breastfeeding support, a reusable nappy library and baby bundles for local parents in need.

The next sale will be held on Sunday, October 13 at Badger Farm Community Centre from 1pm to 3pm. NCT members have early access to the sale at 12:45pm.
