I make no apologies this time for bringing up Winchester Hospital A&E.
Now the general consensus is that we are all flogging a dead horse. It's already been decided that Winchester is going to lose its hospital plus it's A&E but gradually.
That we are going to lose so much of what is needed in regards to the huge population and expansion of people in and around Winchester district.
It so happens, I myself have had to travel from Winchester to Southampton General Hospital at least seven times and for those seven times I have had to rely on the wonderful support of one or other of my family because I could not negotiate the journey there, the parking and sorting out.
Southampton Hospital is a bit of a maze. That being said, had I not had the good support of my family I would have possibly had to pay for a taxi or find some other way of getting there especially if the hospital could not have provided that transport. I have to say that I had the best treatment there.
The point I am making is that there are people not as well off as I am with the loving support of family. It would be a nightmare for them. They haven't got it and possibly with the cost of living and everything bearing down on the elderly at this moment, they would be at a loss to know where to turn. So my personal experience has left me wondering how they have come to this conclusion that we can let our hospital gradually deteriorate. I have to say that nobody is listening to the ordinary guys out there, the working class.
Those who haven't got all the support that I have had. Now I have got my ear to the ground because I am from working class stock and they are still the strength of our communities and I listen from all corners. To be honest, mainly they feel that nobody is listening, it's done and dusted. The deal has been done.
The proposed plans for the hospital to be built in Basingstoke is going to put more pressure, especially on the elderly in terms of travelling there. The population here is growing as we speak.
This is my last hurray for the worst decision that they are making in our name.
