A HAMPSHIRE country pub has re-opened under new management.
The George and Falcon Pub, in Warnford, has been taken over by Steven Yates, 62. He purchased the pub three months ago, opening it at the beginning of April.
The new pub landlord told the Chronicle that he has more than 36 years of experience running pubs.
He said: “I have been doing this all my life, probably since I was 18. I’ve always wanted an old country pub - I’ve had city centre pubs and I’ve had other country pubs in the past, similar to this but in Cheshire, which was quite successful – but my partner wanted to be close to parents in Portsmouth as they are getting on.
“It was a case of seeing this one and liking this one and we’re looking at it and seeing what we can do.”

Steven said that the George and Falcon had undergone a small refurbishment, with some of the bedrooms being redecorated and a new kitchen being brought in.
He continued: “We would like to do more work in the pub, but time is against us some weeks.
“The first month or so has been fairly hard, it’s like any business that has been closed – it’s about getting that word of mouth back out there, to say ‘We’re back open and we’re doing food again’.
“The village has been very welcoming though, They are happy to see the pub back open again.”
