The theft of lead from St. Marks Church is awful, and not the first time churches have been targeted (Chronicle/Advertiser, April 25/26).

The Church of England parish church of Saint Mary in Thenford, built around 1200, is the church where my son and daughter in law were married. Thenford is around five miles north of Brackley.

The lead was also stripped from this beautiful church around three or so years ago.
Such sadness because lead can never really be replaced, forming an integral part of such beautiful structures.

Having to consider CCTV is terribly sad, but churches with lead roofs are open to such criminality.
Let us hope and pray the perpetrators will be found and charged for such vandalism for pure profit.
