It is sad, though perhaps not unexpected, that nobody in an official position has responded (as yet) to my and others' requests for an explanation as to why it is a good idea to close Andover Road and divert traffic through the new Kings Barton estate.
However, on the local election leaflets now coming through my door, I note that at least one would-be councillor, Antonia Cox (Conservative), says that she is “concerned about the impact of the Andover Road North closure”.
I may have missed others' concerns. Antonia, concern is great, but can you tell us what you will actually be able to do about it?
If diverting a main road directly through a housing estate is such a great idea, can we look forward to this policy being extended to other main roads leading into Winchester?
The longer journeys will ensure even more pollution from petrol and diesel fumes. Except, that’s not what we want. Is it?
