A WINCHESTER choir has launched a choral scholarship programme as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.
Southern Voices is offering the scholarships thanks to a sponsorship from the D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, which will allow students to benefit from all expenses being paid.
The choir is aiming to sign up a handful of young musicians to join them, starting in September.

The choir is also holding a “Come and Sing” workshop on Saturday, May 4 at St Paul’s Church in St Paul’s Street.
The workshop will be open to all ages and will be led by conductor Jamal Sutton. Spaces cost £20, £10 for those aged 21 and under, and are free to choral scholarship students.
The deadline for applications to the Southern Voices scholarship programme is June 30. To sign up for the scholarship programme or find out more, visit the Southern Voices website.
