AN opera group has announced the dates for this year's performance - with tickets on sale now.
Hurn Court Opera is staging Don Giovanni at Winchester's Theatre Royal on Thursday, April 11.
Directed by Joy Robinson, Mozart's masterpiece sets beauty and wit alongside menace and debauchery in a vivid re-telling of the eternal Don Juan tale.
Through the arc of a single night, the opera tracks Don Giovanni, played by Sam Young, as he seduces and manipulates without conscience, leaving rejected conquests and vengeful victims in his wake.
Mozart’s sublime music and glorious arias, in contrast, capture the humanity and strength of those he harms.
"Set in the seemingly glamorous early 21st-century film industry, this production addresses issues that remain as relevant today as in Mozart’s time," said a spokesperson for Hurn Court Opera.
The opera group was set up in 2017 to provide quality performance opportunities for young classical singers emerging from conservatoires.
It also runs and annual national Singer of the Year Competition and performs a recital series in Dorset Wiltshire and Hampshire.
Ticket prices range from £18 to £38 and can be bought from theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or by calling 01962 840440.
