WATCH out Wales – Louis the cat is coming to conquer Snowdon to aid a writer’s fundraising goal.
Jess Peters is an author from Romsey who plans on taking her Persian cat Louis on a trek up Snowdon along the Miner’s Trail.
It's a trip which she believes will take a whole day, especially as they will need to take frequent breaks so Louis can keep up.
Do not underestimate Louis however, Jess explains. Louis, who is nearly seven years old, has “always been an outdoor cat”, and as they live in the countryside, walking has become a favourite, and daily, activity.
Jess said: "Louis walks between two and three miles a day, depending on the weather."
And he enjoys being on a lead, with Jess saying he “walks better than a dog”.

One of six cats at home, Jess said Louis is the fussiest in terms of diet and snacking, which is up next on the list of things to plan ahead of the eight-mile round trip.
For this expedition, Louis will be both on paws and carried, but as the date fast approaches, other than extending their daily walks and constructing a snack plan, specifically as Jess puts it, “the ones he can lick”, little else needs to be prepared.
Jess said she is excited and optimistic about the hike, and if all goes to plan she hopes to take on the other two British peaks.
So the big question remains, why are Jess and Louis seeking out this great adventure?
Jess’s published book ‘Alchemy Academy’, is currently in the process of being adapted into a film with entrepreneur and producer Sir Marco Robinson, of Undisputed Films.
As a cat-lover and an avid walker as well as a writer, Jess has come up with an expedition in which some of her favourite elements are involved.
She has climbed Snowdon twice before and she hopes this trip, on May 26, will help her raise £1,000 towards her project.
While funding the film production is the main motivator for this adventure, Jess is also donating 20 per cent of the final amount to the animal charity Cats Protection, to enable all cats, like Louis, to be able to walk up any mountains they wish.
