ALRESFORD Young Farmers’ charity ‘muck lug’ will be on Sunday March 10.
This year the branch will be raising money for Sebastian’s Action Trust and the Countryside Trust.
Last year they raised £1,204 for the Farming Community Network and Friends of the Family Winchester.
Those gardeners local to the area and keen for some well-rotted manure to fertilise their gardens can find the young farmers at The Christy Hall in Old Alresford from 9-10.30am on March 10, with a bag of manure costing just £3.
Anyone local to the Old Alresford and Alresford area can have half or full trailer loads delivered by prior arrangement.

THE annual litter pick in Alresford will be on Saturday March 23.
The event, organised by the town council, runs from 9am to 11am at Alresford Recreation Centre in Arlebury Park.
Litter-picking equipment and gloves will be provided as well complimenatry hot drinks.
The event is in memory of the recently passed Bill Rushton and is part of the Great British Spring Clean.
THE next Neighbourhood Plan meeting in Alresford will be held next week. The gathering at Arlebury Park to discuss how the town may evolve in the next few years had been due on Monday February 12 but has been put back to Wednesday March 13, at 6pm.
THE annual town meeting in Alresford has been postponed, the town council has announced. It has been rescheduled to Monday April 29, 7pm, The ARC. All are welcome. More details will follow in due course, said the town council on its Facebook page.
ALRESFORD Rotary’s ‘Probably mid-Hampshire’s Quiz of the Year 2024’ has a few tables (of six) available for Friday March 22 (6.30 p.m. for 7.15 p.m. start) at Itchen Abbas Village Hall. £90 per table (or £15 per head) to include hot supper. ROPLEY Horticultural Society has issued its programme for 2024.
It generally meets at 7.45pm on the last Monday of the month, at Ropley Parish Hall, Vicarage Lane, SO24 0DU with an invited speaker. Free parking. It holds spring and summer shows and organises outings.
Annual membership is £10, which includes free entry and refreshments to all standard meetings, whilst non-members are welcome at £5 per meeting. For more information contact Jill on 01962 772425.

Later this month on Monday March 25 is a talk “Vegetable Growing” with Martyn Cox at the parish hall.
THE next talk to Alresford Historical and Literary Society will be about an infamous murder on the high seas.
The Porthole Murder talk will be given by retired senior Hampshire police detective Paul Stickler on Wednesday March 20. Actress Gay Gibson went missing from MV Durban Castle between Cape Town and Southampton in October 1947.
The criminal case that followed was known as the Porthole Murder.
The society holds its monthly meetings at the Methodist Church on Jacklyns Lane, SO24 9JJ. Visitors are welcome at the door for just £3.
