WINCHESTER is preparing to host a series of events to mark the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. 

The events, organised by the Winchester Ukrainian Cultural Association, will be held on Saturday, February 24. 

They start with a concert, containing three parts, at 1pm at The Arc in Jewry Street.

A candlelit vigil will start at 6pm in Abbey Gardens. 

Yuliia Dubovyk, chair of the Winchester Ukrainian Cultural Association, said: “Get an insight into the modern history of Ukraine through family stories shared and accompanied by visuals from personal photo and video archives.

“British and Ukrainian volunteers will share their experiences in supporting Ukraine's fight.

“Get a glimpse into the Ukrainian culture with modern and traditional songs, authentic music and costumes.

“Travel to Ukraine by means of watching a documentary about our unbreakable country. The programme lasts from 1pm to 4pm in the Performance Hall at The Arc.

“The concert will consist of three unique parts starting at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm. You can come to any of the parts, or to all three.

“After the event we invite you to join the vigil and light the candle for Ukraine; pray with us at 6pm in the Abbey Gardens.”
