A CANDLELIT vigil is being held in Romsey Market Place this weekend to mark the second anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
The event, on Saturday, 24 February at 6pm, will be an opportunity for remembrance and thought both for Ukrainians who have fled their homeland and who have made a new home in this country, and for their many hosts and allies in the Romsey area.

Everyone is welcome to the vigil which will have at its core a period of silent reflection to honour the memory of those who have given their lives in the conflict and to remember those still in Ukraine who live under constant threat.
Roland Matthews, one of the organisers, said: “It will also serve as a reminder to local residents that we are lucky to live in a country at peace and how vital it is that we do not forget the continuing efforts and sacrifices being made in the name of peace by our fellow citizens in Ukraine.”
