A ROMSEY business, which started making cinnamon buns during the pandemic, has made its Winchester market debut.
The Swedish Baking Studio is Winchester High Street’s newest regular market trader, offering freshly made cinnamon buns every Friday.
The business was founded by Darren Barrett and his wife Anna around four years ago during the pandemic. Anna left her job in hospitality, while Darren ditched his career in the property industry to pursue the new venture.
The couple, who live in Romsey, started with a delivery service but now host market stalls and cater for events too with more than 20 different flavours. Anna, originally from Sweden, bakes all the buns each day.

Mr Barrett, 54, said: “We’re in a bit more control with this than we were with our previous jobs. We started delivering to people during the lockdown and then to wholesalers too but markets are the best way forward for us now. It’s hard work sometimes. It’s tough standing outside all day on the stall during the winter but we’ve got lots of regulars and it’s lovely to have that interaction.
“It’s been good coming to Winchester because we have always had a lot of customers up here. It’s a great product, with everything being baked fresh on the day and it’s really good value for money too.
There are lots of different flavours and choices. The original cinnamon bun is still the most popular but people also love the Ferrero one or chocolate orange. They’re all super popular.”
The Swedish Baking Studio offers its cinnamon buns to Romsey and surrounding areas, Winchester, Salisbury and Southampton through deliveries and market stalls.
