A ROPLEY man has been banned from the road for more than two years after being caught drunk driving.
Matthew De Quincey, of Parkstone Road, was stopped by police on Butts Road, Alton, on Tuesday, December 5, a court heard.
When breath-tested he returned a reading of 127 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, making him more than three times the limit.
Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, the 59-year-old pleaded guilty.
De Quincey has been banned from the road for 29 months – this can be reduced by 29 weeks if he completes a course by September 30, 2025.
He has also been given a community order to complete 150 hours of unpaid work by January 29 next year and must pay £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
De Quincey must pay the total amount of £199 by March 1.
