AFTER a week of chronic traffic congestion Southern Water has finally finished repairing a burst pipe.
The pipe in St George's Street in Winchester ruptured last Thursday forcing the closure of one of the two lanes in the one-way street.
Work was supposed to have been completed by Monday but it dragged on until today.
The pipe was repaired but then it took several more days for the surface to be relaid outside Natwest Bank.
The new roadwork has been filled in and a bright yellow line has been painted, along with the green barriers being moved away this afternoon.
The traffic can now run smoothly using both lanes and reduce congestion from backing up as far as Friarsgate.
