A HAMPSHIRE multi-academy trust has collaborated with educational organisations across the southeast to launch a school-led training programme for aspiring teachers.
The Department for Education accredited Inspiring Future Teachers (IFT) programme will support and develop trainees.
The programme has been developed with the support of research schools, curriculum hubs, existing teacher training providers and multi-academy trusts across the country. It will be delivered through teacher training hubs.

IFT launched in March 2023 and offers school-based training at both primary and secondary levels. The programme has received more than 300 applications since opening last October.
HISP multi-academy trust, based at Thornden School in Chandler’s Ford, has worked in partnership with educational organisations across the UK to develop its new initial teacher training curriculum. Organisations the trust worked with include GLF Schools in Surrey, Bohunt Education Trust, South Downs SCITT, Whole School SEND, Computing and Maths curriculum hubs and the Science Learning Partnership, and Worthing High Behaviour Hub.
The programme’s curriculum has been trialled this year by HISP Multi-Academy Trust and GLF Schools ready for successful applicants to begin the programme in 2024.
Director of Inspiring Future Teachers Helen Shaw said the teacher training programme opens many doors for aspiring teachers across the South East.

The programme delivers all aspects of the Initial Teacher Training Core Content Framework enabling trainee teachers to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and is underpinned by a network of support that nourishes the teachers long after they have finished their post-graduate certificates.”
Helen continued: “Inspiring Future Teachers is more than a training programme. It is a family of teachers, educational leaders and professionals that will change the lives of pupils across the UK.”
