A major road near Winchester was closed for an extended period when planned roadworks lasted longer than expected.
The northbound section of the two-lane A34 between the A33 at Kings Worthy and the Three Maids Hill interchange with the A272 was shut.
The emergency closure was imposed at 6.05am this morning and was not expected to be lifted until 8.30am, according to the Traffic England website.
The road has now reopened.
A National Highways spokeswoman said: "There was an overrunning roadworks on the A34 northbound between the M3 J9/A33 and the A272. At 7.35am a planned roadworks that closed the A34 northbound in Hampshire overran its agreed completion time of 6am. We were notified at 6.05am with the works removed at 7.10am."
