I have just read the letter regarding additional sports facilities in Winchester and agree it would be great to have this for all sports but not at the price of a 30-year-old golf course.
This current facility offers a means of both physical and mental support for a wide range of people from all walks of life and offers facilities for all ages.
On top of this there is an abundance of wildlife that would be driven out by building anything on such an open space.
We have the new sports complex in Bar End, tennis club, cricket, football and rugby grounds, three bowling clubs etc.
Why destroy well used and well managed green spaces in and around Winchester but utilise brownfield sites for building more sports facilities please.
A wonderful opportunity, I think not!
