WINCHESTER’S National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is calling on the public to send in their fond memories of a breastfeeding counsellor for her retirement party.

Jennie Gavin is retiring after 30 years of helping Winchester mums breastfeed their babies. The Winchester NCT branch is planning a farewell party to honour her hard work, supporting thousands of local parents over three decades.

Bryony Farrant, branch coordinator, said: “I was so grateful to Jennie for her kindness and advice when I had my first child. Learning to breastfeed can be tough and I know many other parents will have benefitted from her support and expertise. We would love people to share their memories of how Jennie helped them in the early days of parenthood so we can pay tribute to her long years of service.”

To send in a memory of how Jennie has helped, email Branch.Winchester@nct.org.uk. For more information on Winchester NCT and its breastfeeding counselling service go to nct.org.uk/winchester.
