THE leader of Winchester City Council visited a local men’s shed to learn more about how the group supports the community.
Kings Worthy Community Shed, which has been supported by the Winchester City Council Grants and Neighbourhood Services teams, welcomed the leader to their shed for coffee and cake on International Men’s Day.
Cllr Martin Tod said: “It was great to visit the Community Shed in Kings Worthy for their International Men's Day event. They've created a warm and welcoming place for men to come together, support each other and work on projects for the community. Men don't always want to talk about things face-to-face - sometimes shoulder-to-shoulder is easier - and sheds like the Kings Worthy Community Shed provide a great place for that.

“We are keen to support local organisations that support community mental health and well-being through our grant funding schemes - as we have the Kings Worthy Shed. I look forward to them continuing to provide their valuable support and contribution to the community for many years to come."
The community group, behind the scout hut in Wesley Road, is supported by the Men’s Shed Association but welcomes all genders to pursue practical interests and build friendships.
The shed will be back open, following the Christmas break, from Tuesday, January 9. For more information go to worthys-shed.uk/.
