Naomi House and Jacksplace raise thousands with carol service

Rev Nicky Smallwood, the Chaplain at Naomi House and Jacksplace, hosted the evening. More than £7,000 was raised, which will help fund more than 300 hours of nursing care at the hospices in Sutton Scotney.

The Christmas Carol service featured a selection of carols and readings, allowing the congregation to come together to celebrate the festive season and the meaning of Christmas while raising funds.

The carol service at Winchester College Chapel (Image: Naomi House and Jacksplace)On arrival, the congregation were greeted by music from harpist Amy Pritchard. The Voices for Hospices Choir led the audience through renditions of carols, with David Hall accompanying on the organ.

“The fantastic turnout, with an exceptional audience, readers, and choir, underscores the care our local community has for the families who use our hospices. It is this generous support that makes our vital work as a hospice for children and young adults possible, both now and in the future.”

Jenny Sutton, from Voices for Hospices Choir, said: “It was a great privilege and pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful occasion.

“So many of our singers have commented on how delighted and honoured they were to be able to support Naomi House & Jacksplace in such a lovely service, and in such an amazingly beautiful venue, and have already asked if they can do it again next year!

“The whole atmosphere was spine-tingling.”
