VOLUNTEERS at Romsey Foodbank are celebrating a successful Christmas season.

More than 120 families visited the Freedom Centre, in Greatbridge Business Park, to help the foodbank create its hampers.

Manager Eve Ibbott said: “The Freedom Centre was able to give out over 120 hampers to families in our community this year. We were given 800kg of Christmas food for this, beating last year's weight of 700kg.

“We live in such a generous community and are always blown away by how much is donated. This included sweet and savoury food, drinks, lots of chocolate and so many lovely gifts. All who came by, whether volunteering or making their hampers, had a great time chatting, drinking hot chocolates and getting in the Christmas spirit.

“Thank you to everyone who donated, it allowed us to be very generous this year. Thank you to our amazing centre volunteers and staff team at Freedom Church for helping make it all happen and thank you to all those who came by.”

The foodbank is closed from Friday, December 22 to Tuesday, January 2. The team at the Freedom Centre provide emergency food for local people in crisis.
