A ROMSEY baby bank received a royal invite to a special Christmas concert, supporting a campaign focused on children’s first years of life.
One member of Baby Necessities, in Premier Way, was given the opportunity to attend the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton’s carol concert ‘Together at Christmas’ at Westminster Abbey.
The charity, which provides free new and pre-loved items to families in need, was invited in support of the princess’ ‘Shaping Us’ campaign, raising awareness of the importance of early childhood.
Claire Dines, who joined the baby bank team as a project worker a year ago, was delighted to visit the royal concert and meet some like-minded charity workers.

She said: “It was an absolute honour and privilege to receive an invite at Baby Necessities to the carols at Westminster Abbey.
“The opportunity be able to represent baby banks across the country and to have the work they do in the community to support vulnerable families highlighted was so exciting.
“It means so much to have the princess raising the profile and highlighting how important baby banks are in helping the most venerable members of our communities.

“We believe If we can help these parents support their children through the important early years it can have such a positive impact on their lives.”
The Romsey baby bank is open at the Premier Centre, in Premier Way, where donations such as toys and baby clothes are stocked and prepared to be re-gifted.
The charity works through third-party referrals from professionals like community midwives, health visitors, GPs, family support workers, social workers and teachers.
