Scores of people queued along the High Street as a Winchester bubble tea shop celebrated its first anniversary.

CUPP Bubble Tea handed out 50 free samples to mark the occasion on Saturday, December 9.

After the freebies had gone, people could get 20 per cent off for the rest of the day.

Franchisee Roberta Herridge told the Chronicle it had been a good year.

Hampshire Chronicle: Queues outside CUPP

She said: “The year has just gone so quickly. It does not feel like a year. It's been really good, there has been a warm welcome from the people of Winchester. We have a lot of regular customers now and they appreciate that this is a bubble tea brand with a difference.

“A lot of people think it's just surgery drinks, but we have lots of sugar-free options like matcha with basil seeds and oat milk. We've had lots of curiosity from people walking by who haven't had bubble tea before.

“It has been a good year.”

Roberta, along with Keith Mabuto, also run the CUPP shop in Salisbury, which has been open for two years.

CUPP is open for drink-in and takeaway every day at 98 High Street. Delivery is also available via Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

CUPP, founded in 2012, currently has more than 22 stores across the UK after franchising in 2020. For more go to cuppbubbletea.co.uk/.
