MEON Valley's MP recently visited a Hampshire country pub to meet the landlord and landlady.
Flick Drummond dropped into the 600-year-old Brushmakers Arms in Shoe Lane, Upham, which was a highly commended pub in the Countryside Alliance Awards.
The pub sources its produce from local farms and food producers.
Nicky Taylor and her husband Reece run the pub. Reece is also the chef who has worked with Jamie Oliver and Marco Pierre-White.

Ms Drummond said: “Many congratulations to the Brushmakers for a worthy recognition of what it does to offer good-quality local produce to the community.
“It was nice to meet up with Nicky and Reece and discuss what they do and the ethos behind it. I know the pub is much-loved in the area and well-supported too.”
Nicky said: “Reece and I were absolutely delighted to come second in the south east of England in the Countryside Alliance rural Oscars. It has been a tough few years with Covid and latterly with people not having so much disposable income so it makes this award all the more worthwhile.
“We would also like to give a big thanks to our lovely loyal customers who supported us during lockdown and after.”
