Head of Winchester College Elizabeth Stone said: "It's wonderful that our pupils have been recognised by The Sunday Times for their excellent academic achievements. As important as exam results, but not so easily measured, is the intellectual ambition of a school and the distinctive character of a Winchester College education is a commitment to learning for learning's sake.
"Nowhere is this epitomised more than through 'Div' where pupils explore topics unrestrained by any exam syllabus. Div is what isn't taught elsewhere and prepares our pupils to thrive in the modern world and contribute to a global society."
