Winchester City Council recently sent me a survey asking for my views on recycling.
It said that Winchester was ‘proud’ of its record on recycling.
That all seems positive. But at the same time I can’t help but notice that following the McDonald’s development at Tesco, most of the recycling facilities there have gone.
On enquiring, it appears that our councillors imposed no conditions on Tesco to maintain the same level of recycling facilities after the development’s completion.
Why was that? Clearly it makes no environmental sense and makes the council’s recycling goals more difficult to achieve.
