POLICE caught shoplifters with stolen hair straighteners and electric toothbrushes from a High Street shop.
Winchester Police officers were alerted to the individuals, who were seen leaving with hundreds of pounds of unpaid items, by a shop in the High Street on Monday, November 27 evening.
According to PC Andrews officers were quick to react by foot, bicycle and car and were directed by CCTV operators from Winchester City Council.

PC Andrews posted on Winchester Police’s Facebook page: “Through the eagle eye of the CCTV operator, we knew the individuals had run into an alleyway before police caught up with them. PCSO Leung was first on the scene and volunteered to stick his head into the nearby bins.
“Several items found, which were then corroborated by PCSO Parker speaking to shop staff as the items that had been stolen.
“Several hundred pounds worth of items returned to the store, and details gathered from the individuals stopped by police, further enquiries to follow.”
Shoplifting always rises sharply at this time of year, in the run-up to Christmas.
