A discarded sign and a full skip are all that remain outside the building which hid a large cannabis factory.

In the early hours of Monday, November 20, officers raided Vodka Bar and Nightclub on Upper Brook Street.

Inside, officers discovered a large number of cannabis plants at various stages of growth. All plants will be seized and destroyed once an investigation is carried out.

Police officers remained at the scene for days, finally leaving the site on Friday, November 24.

Hampshire Chronicle: Now, all that is left outside the club is the discarded sign, plus a skip full of plastic and old electrical equipment.

Vodka Nightclub and Bar, in Upper Brook Street, closed in May for a summer refurbishment but never re-opened.

Since the drug discovery, the nightclub has been forced to surrender its licence after Winchester City Council officers called an emergency sub-committee on Wednesday, November 22.

A 54-year-old man from Winchester was arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled drug of Class B and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property. He has been bailed with conditions until 20 February while police enquiries continue.
