A TEST Valley town is preparing to kick-start the festive season with its annual winter procession and lantern parade.

Romsey Carnival is organising the festivities once again, with a new route announced for this year.

The event will be held on Saturday, November 25 starting at 6pm.

The procession starts at Abbey Approach, then goes on to Church Street, The Hundred, Palmerston Street, Broadwater Road, Bell Street, The Market Place, and disperses in Church Street.

It promises to be an amazing spectacle of lights, music, dancing, floats and much more.

Last year, Hampshire-based drumming band Swan Samba returned to the town to perform an LED drum show as part of the procession.

Looking ahead, Romsey Carnival is also organising the Santa Fun Run on Sunday, December 17, starting at 10am.

This will be at Romsey War Memorial Park and costs £2.50 to enter, with each participant receiving a Santa Run medal.
